Melissa & Doug Dollhouse Furniture Kitchen Set:
A kitchen plays an important role in the first years. In the kitchen, with correct guidance from parents children take their first steps into nutrition, cleaning, table manners and culture.
In 1988 Melissa and Doug Bernstein wanted to make seriously educational products for children. Unfortunately they are too funny to be serious but believed that there weren’t enough products that time on the market that made learning fun. With that motivation they started a company in their basement in Connecticut. Through the years this little company grew up to 700-800 employees, perfecting their wooden puzzles, building blocks, musical instruments, alphabets, baby toys and other high end educational toys, all designed by Melissa herself, particularly the wooden products which include furnitures, doll houses and other items especially suitable for pretend play.
What makes the company so significant is their meticulousness on the quality, functionality and safety. All toys are painted with safe dyes using very durable materials such as wood, plastic, stainless steel, and more. That’s why Melissa & Doug doll houses are almost always preferred over their rivals. For especially their Victorian Dollhouse and other 1:12 dollhouses, the company launched a product line of furniture sets to go in the living room, dining room, bathroom, nursery, kitchen and bedroom.
The Melissa & Doug Kitchen furniture set comes complete with a kitchen table, two kitchen chairs, sink and countertop, oven with stove top, refrigerator and a hutch. The set has a soft-yellow & deep green color scheme with natural wood accents fit for a Victorian house. All the items are so detailed, had they been resized a family could be using them with no difficulty. The drawers are functional, doors have handles and hinges that actually open, the burner rack is complete with four burners, gold-looking faucet has two handles, the refrigerator has racks and a freezer compartment, even the oven has a glass window and so on.
